Energy Minister: operators working to avoid blackouts

The energy minister is downplaying the possibility of blackouts in the Eastern States despite ongoing pressure on the power grid. Warnings were issued yesterday of the possibility of demand for energy outstripping supply with households in Queensland and New South Wales urged to conserve their electricity use. Chris Bowen says although the market operator has again made warnings for this afternoon and evening he's confident there's enough power to avoid blackouts.
