The voting for the Champawat By-election has begun at 7 am on May 31. People queued up at the Banbasa polling booth to cast their votes.

By-poll in Champawat is being keenly watched as the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is contesting from here. Presently Dhami is not a member of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly.

Dhami had lost to Congress candidate Bhuwan Chandra Kapri by a margin of 6,579 votes in the recently concluded Assembly Elections.
