I Literally Wear My Heart On My Sleeve | BORN DIFFERENT

GERRY wears her heart on her sleeve: literally. The 32-year-old was diagnosed with a rare condition called Idiopathic Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (IPAH) and Congestive Heart Failure in 2018 and was told she needed to start treatment immediately. The mum-of-two now wears a subcutaneous pump which administers medication 24/7 through a site and this keeps her alive. Gerry began sharing her story on social media so she could be the person to other people that she was looking for when she first got diagnosed. As well as raising awareness, she does a lot of important patient advocacy work online. Living with a chronic illness has been a roller coaster for Gerry and her family and they hope the future holds a cure. She said: “We've seen a lot of miracles that have happened in my body. I've survived. My joke is I am a cat with nine lives, and I think I'm probably on my sixth life at this point.”
