3 out of 4 Children Have Had COVID

A recent study shows that 3 out of every 4 children in the U.S. has been infected with COVID-19 or one of its variants. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention examined blood samples from more than 200,000 children, looking for antibodies caused by infections. The test used by the CDC can detect infection up to 2 years after the fact, sometimes longer. As researchers looked for antibodies, they found that those under 17 had a 30% increase in COVID antibodies from December 2021 to February 2022. For the population at large, researchers believe around 34% of Americans had been infected with COVID-19 in December, but that number rose to 58% by February. At press time, the CDC is watching virus hotspots like the Northeast, where hospitalizations have seen a slight uptick.
