UAPA a disgrace to India: Shashi Tharoor on bill to repeal law

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on April 01, introduced a private member's bill in the Lok Sabha seeking to repeal the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). He also claimed that the conviction rate with regards to people charged with the law is very minimal. “Over the last 7 years, the conviction rate is a meagre 2.4 per cent. My serious advice to the Government is that this act is a disgrace for us, let’s have regular laws against terrorist actions by all means,” the leader said.
