Engadget reports Twitter will be expanding its "downvote" button trial rollout.
After receiving positive feedback from users during its initial "downvote" button experiments in July 2021, the company has announced another trial run for select users.

According to Engadget, a majority of Twitter users "clicked the down arrow... because the reply was perceived as offensive, or because they perceived it as not relevant, or both.".
The social media giant says in the trial, many users utilized downvoting
as a way to flag content they
no longer wanted to view.
Downvotes aren't anything new. Reddit has been using a downvote button
since its inception in 2005.
Facebook also initiated a trial run of a downvote button in 2018, though it
did not become a standard feature.
