Mental health services in Kent in desperate need of extra resources
  • 2 years ago
A 13-year-old girl from Whitstable has been sent to a mental health hospital in Manchester because there aren't enough beds here in Kent...

Imogen Oliver spent five months at the unit last year - 280 miles away from her friends and family.

She was suffering from severe anxiety and depression, but her mum struggled to get her sectioned locally as only 11 spaces are available across the whole county.

Simon Dolby is chief executive of the charity South Kent Mind, and says more resources are desperately needed.
