After 50 years, the Amar Jawan Jyoti was merged with the Eternal Flames at National War Memorial. The Amar Jawan Jyoti was constructed as a memorial for Indian soldiers who were killed in action in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The National War Memorial, on the other hand, was inaugurated in 2019, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government had earlier maintained that both flames will coexist.
