'Beat the Pot' - Indonesian domestic workers demand protection law
  • 2 years ago
Indonesian domestic workers from several different countries including Malaysia, joined in a campaign on Sunday calling on lawmakers in Indonesia's Parliament to table a draft protection law.

Around 200 Indonesian domestic workers, migrant activists and religious chiefs took part in the campaign and banged on pots and pans 18 times, which is the number of years the draft bill has been dragged in and out of Indonesia's Lower House.

The campaign came amid ongoing bilateral discussions for new recruitment terms in Malaysia.
