The Minister of Women and Child Development of India, Smriti Irani, slammed the Congress government in Punjab for the major security lapse as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's convoy was on its way to Ferozepur.

In a presser, she said, "We know Congress hates Modi, today they tried to harm the PM of India." She accused the state government of "knowingly constructing a scenario where the PM will be brought to harm".
