Watch: Rains lash parts of Odisha, Cyclone Jawad likely to reach near coast around noon on Dec 5

The impact of Cyclone Jawad could be felt in Odisha on Saturday morning as rains began to lash parts of the state, including the capital Bhubaneswar. As a result of the cyclone, schools in 19 districts of the state were closed on Saturday.

The Indian Meteorological Department said the wind speed will remain 70-80 kmph, gusting to 90 kmph, and heavy rains can be expected in several districts of the state till Sunday. Additionally, the IMD said it will not upgrade Jawad to a ‘severe cyclonic storm’; it will remain a ‘cyclonic storm’.
