Omicron Covid-19 variant reaches India; Delhi air quality remains 'severe'; more

On Thursday, the Union health ministry confirmed two cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus in India. Both cases were detected in Karnataka. The central and state governments have put in place travel restrictions to contain the spread of the new variant.

Meanwhile, air pollution continues to choke Delhi with the air quality index (AQI) remaining in the 'severe' category on Friday morning. The Delhi government decided on Thursday to keep schools shut until further orders.
