Stripe, one of the most popular online payments platforms in the world, says that it is reconsidering accepting cryptocurrency as a form of payment. Co-founder John Collison said, “Crypto obviously means a lot of different things to a lot of different people,” adding, “ There have been a lot of developments of late with an eye to making cryptocurrencies better and, in particular, scalable and acceptable cost as a payment method.” Collision also said that crypto has uses that are “not relevant to what we do at Stripe.” While Stripe is not ready to accept crypto payments just yet, it appears the platform is close to a decision. In 2018, Stripe dropped support for Bitcoin payments, noting that the currency was known for wild price swings and lacked efficiency.
