Speaking in Lucknow on Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “Chandragupta Maurya's legacy had been distorted as he was not credited for defeating the Greek conqueror Alexander." He also criticised historians for terming Alexander as great and not Chandragupta Maurya. All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaddudin Owaisi slammed Yogi Adityanath over the 'Alexander lost to Chandragupta Maurya' remark and suggested that his comment throws light on the need for reform of the public education system.
