Heavy rainfall for three straight days has led to flooding on roads, destruction of bridges and overflowing rivers across the hilly state of Uttarakhand. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Minister Ajay Bhatt on Tuesday to take stock of the situation in the state. Nainital has been completely cut off from the rest of Uttarakhand with the arterial roads connecting the popular tourist destination being blocked due to a series of landslides.
