Kerala: Idukki Dam's Shutters Opened For First Time Since 2018 To Prevent Flooding, Watch Visuals

Incessant rainfall has battered Kerala. At least 35 people have lost their lives in the wake of heavy rains. Authorities have now opened the gates of Idukki dam on the Periyar river to ease the pressure on the construction. This is the fourth time that the gates of the dam were opened. Earlier, the shutters were opened in 1981, 1992 and then in 2018. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rain between October 20 and 24. IMD has issued a red alert for 10 dams across the state. Watch the video to know more.
