Sharad Purnima has a lot of importance in Hinduism. According to the Hindu calendar, Sharad Purnima falls on the full moon day of the month of Ashwin. It is believed about Sharad Purnima that the moon is full of 16 arts on this day only in a year. Sharad Purnima is also known as ' Kaumudi Vrat', 'Kojagari Purnima' and 'Raas Purnima' . It is said that on this day Shri Krishna created Maharas. There is also a belief that on the night of Sharad Purnima, nectar is showered by the rays of the moon. For this reason, it is customary to make kheer in North India on this day and keep it in the moonlight overnight. Sharad Purnima will be celebrated on 19 October this year. This full moon is also known as Kojagari and Raj Purnima. Actually, on the full moon day, the moon is full of sixteen arts. It is said that on this day nectar showers from the sky. Actually the moon is closest to the earth on this day. On the full moon night, the moon and milky light bathes the earth. The full moon is celebrated amidst this white light.

हिंदू धर्म में शरद पूर्णिमा का बहुत ही खासा महत्व है। हिंदू पंचांग के अनुसार, शरद पूर्णिमा आश्विन मास की पूर्णिमा को आती हैं। शरद पूर्णिमा के बारे में मान्यता है कि सालभर में सिर्फ इसी दिन चांद 16 कलाओं से परिपूर्ण होता है। शरद पूर्णिमा को ‘कौमुदी व्रत’,‘कोजागरी पूर्णिमा’ और ‘रास पूर्णिमा’ के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। कहते हैं इसी दिन श्रीकृष्ण ने महारास रचाया था। एक मान्यता यह भी है कि शरद पूर्णिमा की रात को चांद की किरणों से अमृत बरसता है। इसी वजह से इस दिन उत्तर भारत में खीर बनाकर रातभर चांदनी में रखने का रिवाज है। इस साल 19 अक्टूबर के दिन शरद पूर्णिमा मनाई जाएगी। इस पूर्णिमा को कोजागरी और राज पूर्णिमा भी कहा जाता है। दरअसल, पूर्णिमा के दिन चांद सोलह कलाओं के परिपूर्ण होता है। कहा जाता है कि इस दिन आकाश से अमृत की वर्षा होती है। दरअसल इस दिन चांद पृथ्वी के सबसे निकट होता है। पूर्णिमा के रात्रि चांद दूधिया रोशनी धरती को नहलाती है। इस सफेद उजाले के बीच पूर्णिमा मनाई जाती है। आचार्य अजय द्विवेदी जी से जानें शरद पूर्णिमा का महत्व और शरद पूर्णिमा क्यों मनाई जाती है ।
