Ashtami and Navami Tithi have special significance in Navratri. On both these days people also do Kanya Puja. On this day nine earthen pots are kept and the nine forms of Goddess Durga are invoked after meditating on them. The last 24 minutes after Ashtami ends and the first 24 minutes after Navami begins are called Sandhi moment or Kaal. This time of Sandhi Kaal is considered most auspicious for Durga Puja.

नवरात्रि में अष्टमी और नवमी तिथि का खास महत्व होता है. इन दोनों दिन लोग कन्या पूजन भी करते हैं. इस दिन मिट्टी के नौ कलश रखे जाते हैं और देवी दुर्गा के नौ रूपों का ध्यान कर उनका आह्वान किया जाता है. अष्टमी समाप्त होने के अंतिम 24 मिनट और नवमी प्रारंभ होने के शुरुआती 24 मिनट के समय को संधि क्षण या काल कहते हैं. संधि काल का ये समय दुर्गा पूजा के लिए सबसे शुभ माना जाता है.
