All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Sunday named Dalit-Sikh leader Charanjit Singh Channi as the new chief minister of Punjab.

Channi will replace Captain Amarinder Singh, who had resigned as the chief minister on Saturday after months of turmoil within the state unit.
