Rahul Aware won a gold medal for the country in the 57 kg wrestling final in the Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast in 2018. A resident of Patoda village in Beed district, he is a student of Harishchandra Birajdar and KakaPawar. He had easily overwhelmed his opponents in the Youth Commonwealth Games in Pune in 2008.He also won a gold medal in Junior Asian wrestling competition in Uzbekistan in 2009. Aware also achieved success in the same year in German grappling and bronze medal in Golden grapple in 2010. In 2011, Rahul won the gold medal in the senior division at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games. He also bagged a bronze medal in the same year in the Asian championship. In 2014 he reached the quarter finals of world competition. Rahul has regularly participated in the national competitions and won seven times at the senior level. He is the only wrestler from Marathwada with these credentials. He has been honoured with the Shiv Chhatrapati Puraskar by the state government.
