Just before the assembly elections going to be held in UP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a big gift to Aligarh. Modi will lay the foundation stone of the university to be named after Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh today. PM Modi's visit to Aligarh is being considered as the BJP's election debut. Therefore, in 2019, the Yogi government announced the formation of Raja Mahendra Pratap University in Aligarh. Now Prime Minister Modi aims to complete this project by 2023. The name Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh has many political meanings. Raja Mahendra, a resident of Hathras, was a big leader of the Jat society who played a role in the freedom struggle. So also made a significant contribution to social reform. He gave about 3 acres of land in 1929 for Aligarh University. In lieu of land, he used to take only 2 rupees annually. Watch this video.
