Amazon Brings Cashierless Tech To Whole Foods
  • 3 years ago
Amazon ($AMZN@US) plans to bring its automated checkout technology to a pair of Whole Foods stores. One store is located in the Glover Park neighborhood of Washington, D.C., and the other is in Sherman Oaks, California. The “Just Walk Out” technology allows shoppers to enter a store by scanning an app and exit without the need to stand in a checkout line. Cameras and sensors track what items shoppers select and charge them when they leave. Amazon has deployed its cashier-less technology across many stores, including several Fresh grocery stores and Go convenience stores. It also sells the technology to third-party retailers.
