After Maharashtra Police detained Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Narayan Rane for his alleged derogatory remarks against Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Jagat Prakash Nadda on August 24 stated that the arrest of Union Minister is a "violation of constitutional values". The BJP chief took to twitter and tweeted, "The arrest of Union Minister Narayan Rane by the Maharashtra Government is a violation of constitutional values. We will neither be scared nor suppressed by such action." Union Minister Rane said that he would have slapped Maharashtra CM for 'forgetting the number of years of India's Independence.
