Opportunistic Lion Kill at De Laporte Waterhole - Kruger National Park - 18 October 2019

"Male Lion saw an opportunity to kill an impala at the waterhole as they slip and fall into the water, not getting out in time. I tried several times to get video and today my luck turned. His stomach was still full from the last meal but this is an opportunity that he will not let go!" - Arno Pietersen.
The past two weeks, at the waterhole, two male lions were seen hanging around. The one male had an injury, maybe this is why he takes the easy option, to get back his strength, while the injury heals.
Lions are opportunistic hunters and the dry season, makes them have the upper hand in the area.
