BS Yediyurappa announced his resignation as the Karnataka chief minister on Monday and said that he quit on his own and there was no pressure from the BJP brass. "Not out of grief, but with happiness," Yediyurappa said, as he thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda for giving him an opportunity to serve as Chief Minister for two years, despite completing 75 years.
