Delta Plus variant cases on the rise, Maharashtra reports first death

Amid the nation's battle with the second wave of infection, the new mutant, which is the Delta-Plus variant, has caused the first death in Maharashtra's Ratnagiri district. An 80-year-old lady with co-morbidities succumbed to the infection on Friday.
As per the reports from the Union Health Ministry, 52 cases of the Delta-Plus, classified as the variant of concern, have been detected so far in India. These cases have been reported from the states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Kerela. Till now, two people have succumbed to the new variant.
