People living on the banks of Yamuna will also be able to take a dip in the waters of Ganga Maiya this time. The water of the holy Ganges in the Yamuna river of Agra which is continuously coming from Bulandshahr. The importance of this day is said to be very high for charity. According to Jyotishacharya Dr. Shenu Mehrotra, on the tenth day of Jishta Shukla Paksha, due to the special penance of King Bhagirath, Ganga ji had descended from heaven to earth. Ganga ji is considered to be the best of all rivers. This time Ganga Dussehra will be celebrated legally on Sunday, June 20, on the Shukla Paksha Dashami date. Dashami Tithi will be on Saturday 19th June at 6:46 pm, which will remain till 4:2 pm on Sunday, 20th June. Taking a bath in the Ganges on the holy festival of Ganga Dussehra, one gets freedom from the sins of 10 births.

हर हर गंगे की गूंज जिस दिन हर ओर गूंजेगी वो दिन 20 जून को है। जी हां, 20 जून को गंगा दशहरा का महापर्व है। यमुना किनारे रहने वाले भी इस बार गंगा मैया की जलधारा में डुबकी लगा सकेंगे। आगरा की यमुना नदी में पवित्र गंगा का जल जो बुलंदशहर से लगातार आ रहा है। इस दिन का महत्व दान पुण्य के लिए काफी अधिक बताया गया है। ज्योतिषाचार्य डॉ शाेनू मेहरोत्रा के अनुसार जेष्ठ शुक्ल पक्ष की दशमी तिथि के दिन राजा भगीरथ की विशेष तपस्या से गंगा जी का अवतरण स्वर्ग से धरती पर हुआ था। गंगा जी को सभी नदियों में सर्वश्रेष्ठ माना गया है। शुक्ल पक्ष दशमी तिथि को इस बार गंगा दशहरा 20 जून रविवार को विधि विधान पूर्वक मनाया जाएगा। दशमी तिथि 19 जून शनिवार की सायं 6ः46 पर लगेगी जो कि अगले दिन 20 जून रविवार को शाम 4ः2 तक रहेगी। गंगा दशहरा के पावन पर्व पर गंगा स्नान करने पर 10 जन्मों के पापों से मुक्ति मिलती है।
