Ganga Dussehra is falling on 20th June, Saturday. The glory of Ganga has been described a lot in Hinduism. In the scriptures, the Ganges has been called the Purifier. It means that by taking a dip of faith in the Ganges, sins are destroyed and sinners also become free from faults in Ihloka. According to mythological belief, Ganga came to earth on the day of Dussehra, pleased by the severe penance of sage Bhagirath. It is believed that on this day all the sinful deeds of the devotee who take a dip in the holy Ganges are destroyed and he attains salvation after death. Bathing in the Ganges on the day of Ganga Dussehra has special significance.

गंगा दशहरा 20 जून, शनिवार को पड़ रहा है. हिंदू धर्म में गंगा की महिमा का बहुत बखान किया गया है. शास्त्रों में गंगा को पतित पावनी कहा गया है. इसका मतलब है कि गंगा में आस्था की डुबकी लगाने से पापों का नाश होता है और पापी भी इहलोक में दोष से मुक्त हो जाते हैं. पौराणिक मान्यता के अनुसार, गंगा दशहरा के दिन ही ऋषि भागीरथ की कठोर तपस्या से प्रसन्न होकर गंगा धरती पर आईं थीं. मान्यता है कि इस दिन पवित्र गंगा में डुबकी लगाने वाले भक्त के सारे पाप कर्मों का नाश होता है और मृत्यु के बाद उसे मोक्ष की प्राप्ति होती है. गंगा दशहरा के दिन गंगा में स्नान का विशेष महत्व है.
