Tourism vessel used to smuggle cigarettes valued at RM7.6 million

Johor Police have crippled cigarette smuggling activities in the state with the arrest of three men using tourist vessels to transport the contraband.

Johor police chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the raid was conducted by personnel from Marine Police Force Region 2 in Mersing and Tampoi with the assistance of the Endau Police Station last Friday.

In the operation, Ayob said the police managed to seize two lorries, a tourist vessel and various contraband cigarettes with a total value of RM9.3 million.
