कोरोना वैक्सीन की कमी के बीच भारत सरकार इस पर भी रिसर्च करने वाली है कि क्या वैक्सीन की एक डोज़ ही काफी है. ऐसी रिसर्च भी सामने आ रही हैं, जिनमें ये दावा किया जा रहा है कि अगर कोरोना हो चुका है तो पर्याप्त एंटीबॉडीज़ बनाने के लिए वैक्सीन की एक डोज़ ही काफी है. हालांकि इस थ्योरी पर कई एक्सपर्ट सवाल उठा रहे हैं. भारत में सरकार का महत्वाकांक्षी कोरोना टीकाकरण अभियान हिचकोले खा रहा है. ना सिर्फ वैक्सीन की कमी है, बल्कि डर, अफ़वाह और वैक्सीन के असरदार होने पर जबरदस्त कन्फ्यूजन है. इन सबके बीच भारत में कोवैक्सीन, कोविशील्ड और स्पूतनिक वी वैक्सीन लगाई जा रही हैं. इनमें भी सबसे ज़्यादा डोज़ कोविशील्ड की लगाई जा रही है. वैज्ञानिक प्रोफेसर गिरिधर बाबू ने कहा कि नहीं, बिल्कुल भी अच्छा विचार नहीं है, यह सुझाव देने के लिए कोई डेटा नहीं है कि जनसंख्या स्तर पर मृत्यु दर या गंभीर बीमारी के खिलाफ पर्याप्त सुरक्षा प्रदान करने के लिए एक खुराक ही काफी है, उपलब्ध साक्ष्य बताते हैं कि टीकों की दो खुराक मौतों को रोकने में प्रभावी है.
