SIU to freeze accounts of companies in Gauteng 'deep cleanse

The bank accounts and assets of 14 companies contracted to sanitise Gauteng schools, will be frozen. The Special Investigating Unit was granted the order earlier today. This follows investigation of unlawful procurement by the provincial education department. It gave the companies over 400-million rand to disinfect schools last year after COVID-19 reached South Africa. The companies' accounts hold up to 6-million rand, and their assets are estimated to be worth just below R5-million. Courtesy #DStv403
