Bharat Biotech has submitted data of its Covid-19 vaccine, Covaxin, to the World Health Organisation (WHO) for pre-qualification. In a statement, Bharat Biotech said, "Covaxin is in the process to get regulatory approvals in more than 60 countries, including the USA, Brazil and Hungary". Pre-qualification is a procedure adopted by the WHO to ensure the supply of quality-assured products.

The second wave of Covid in India will decline by July 2021 and by the end of May, cases will halve to 1.50 lakh on a daily basis and 20,000 by June end, according to the projection of the ‘Sutra Model.’ The model says that the third wave of Covid cases is expected in 6-8 months from now and its impact could be cushioned. "It will be localised and many people will not be affected because they will enjoy immunity from vaccinations," said Professor Manindra Agarwal of IIT-Kanpur, who is one of the experts behind the projections.
