Antigua launches search op for Mehul Choksi; PM Modi-led panel shortlists 3 names for next CBI chief; more

Fugitive diamond trader Mehul Choksi has gone missing in Antigua and Barbuda. The Antigua’s Johnson Point Police Station has filed a missing person’s complaint, according to which Mehul Choksi was last seen on Sunday. Mehul Choksi and his nephew Nirav Modi are wanted for allegedly siphoning off Rs 13,500 crore of public money from the state-run Punjab National Bank (PNB), using letters of undertaking.

A high powered committee led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shortlisted three names for the next chief of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). According to the sources, CISF director general (DG) Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) director general Kumar Rajesh Chandra, and special secretary, internal security in the Union home ministry VSK Kaumudi have been shortlisted for the top post.
