Why has Covid-19 vaccine roll out slowed down?

India is witnessing a vaccine crunch amidst the Covid-19 surge and is also witnessing a slowdown in the vaccination drive. Here's a look at what led to the vaccine hiccups across the nation, and to what extent the government's vaccine policy in itself is behind the slumps.

India on Wednesday recorded its highest single-day toll of 4,529 Covid deaths. The country recorded 2,67,334 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the total case tally in the country to 2,54,96,330. With a fresh jump of over 2.67 lakh Covid-19 cases, the active caseload in the country now stands at 32,26,719. India has the second-highest caseload after the US. As many as 3,89,851 discharges have been made in the last 24 hours, which is more than the daily cases reported.
