An international dispute between Bolivia and Peru erupted when the Peruvian Ministry of Culture proclaimed the Morenada folk dance as Peruvian national heritage. Hundreds of dancers marched to the beat of drums, trumpets and cymbals at an event in La Paz to defend the iconic dance and reclaim it as their own.
