Southern states continue to grapple with Covid-19 infections

The Southern Covid storm is wreaking havoc in the region. The five states in Southern India are witnessing a massive spike amongst which the worst-impacted is Karnataka with nearly 50,000 cases each day. In the last 24 hours, Karnataka reported 48,781 new Covid-19 cases. The state government has decided to impose a 14-day complete lockdown to check the spread of Covid-19 infections. Kerala has announced a complete lockdown in the state from May 8 till May 16 over the rising Covid-19 cases in the state. A complete lockdown for 14 days will also be imposed in Tamil Nadu to stop the spread of Covid-19 cases. The lockdown will begin from May 10 and continue till May 24.
