Delhi imposes 6-day lockdown, hundreds queue up outside liquor shops

The Delhi government on Monday announced a citywide lockdown to curb the surge in the Covid-19 pandemic. The curfew will be effective from Monday night till April 26 morning. After a meeting with Delhi L-G Anil Baijal, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced the decision to impose lockdown from 10 pm on Monday till 5 am on April 26.

As soon as the Delhi government announced a week-long lockdown on Monday, a panic button was triggered across the city as people rushed to stock up groceries and essentials for the next 6 days. Haunted by the memories of the 2020 lockdown, people also rushed to stock up on liquor and long queues were spotted outside liquor stores in several parts of Delhi.
