PM Modi gets second dose of Covid-19 vaccine; Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee responds to EC notice; more

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday took the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. He had received the first dose of Bharat Biotech's Covaxin on March 1. Taking to Twitter, PM Modi shared a picture of him taking the second dose of the vaccine and urged all those who are eligible to get vaccinated against Covid-19. "Got my second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at AIIMS today. Vaccination is among the few ways we have, to defeat the virus. If you are eligible for the vaccine, get your shot soon. Register on http://CoWin.gov.in," PM Modi tweeted. On the other hand, soon after Election Commission (EC) asked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to explain her stand on her alleged appeal for votes on communal lines, the TMC chief said sending notices to her won't help BJP in the polls. The EC on Wednesday had asked Mamata Banerjee to respond to its notice within 48 hours. The EC notice comes after it received a complaint from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which alleged that on April 3, Mamata Banerjee in her speech "appealed to the Muslim voters not to let their vote be split among different political parties."
