Am Assamese first, then a Muslim, says AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal

In an exclusive interview with India Today deputy editor Kaushik Deka, president of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Badruddin Ajmal, reiterated that he is not in the race for the chief minister's chair and responded to the 'enemy of the state' remark made by BJP's Himanta Biswa Sarma and Assam CM Sarbanda Sonowal.

"I'll file a case against Sonowal for calling me an enemy of the state. I am an Assamese first and then a Muslim, I've been wearing a gamcha even before Modi came to Delhi. I have not opened a single madrasa and I'm all for modern education," Ajmal said.
