पिछले साल यूएई में आइपीएल के 13वें संस्करण में 516 रन और सर्वाधिक 30 छक्के जमाकर सुर्खियां बटोरने के बाद यह तय हो गया था कि पटना के इशान किशन के कदम भारतीय टीम के दरवाजे के करीब हैं। इस साल विजय हजारे ट्रॉफी के पहले मुकाबले में ही मध्य प्रदेश के खिलाफ उन्होंने 94 गेंदों में 173 रनों की पारी खेली और उसी दिन भारतीय टीम का हिस्सा होने का उसका सपना पूरा हो गया।रविवार को जब उन्हें इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ दूसरे टी-20 मैच में मौका मिला तो उन्होंने आतिशी पारी खेलकर यह दिखाया कि क्यों उन्होंने पढ़ाई से ज्यादा क्रिकेट को तरजीह दी। आज उन्हें यह अफसोस भी नहीं होगा कि क्रिकेट के कारण स्कूल से गायब रहने पर उन्हें बाहर का रास्ता दिखाया गया था।
