Why is Asaduddin Owaisi suddenly fielding candidates in several states? He explains
  • 3 years ago
Of late, the Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM has been fielding candidates in assembly elections in several states. It won five seats in Bihar last year, won Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra in 2019, tasted success in local body polls in Gujarat recently, and is now contesting assembly polls in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.

The party for long was centred around the old city of Hyderabad, but has now announced it will contest next year's Gujarat assembly polls. Reports suggest it is also likely to explore its fortunes in Karnataka later.

Why is Owaisi suddenly trying to expand his political base? Is it because of some pan-India ambitions or are their other reasons?

At the India Today Conclave 2021(South), Asaduddin Owaisi speaks about this and a host of other issues.
