Abandoned by father and left in a shopping center by mother, 1980s TV icon and foster child Punky Brewster is a true survivor. With Punky and all her charm now back on TV in the Peacock reboot, star Soleil Moon Frye is reflecting on how the show was ahead of its time. “We never shied away from topics that were important,” Moon Frye said on “Salon Talks.” And it’s personal, too. “The show is actually a cathartic experience of my rediscovery of self and what it is to be a survivor,” she said.
