England skipper Joe Root on Friday said that he is "desperate" to play in cash-rich Indian Premier League, however, his commitment to England cricket remains a top priority. Root opted out of this year's IPL auctions that were set to be held on February 18. "It was a very difficult decision," Root said on the eve of the second Test against India in Chennai starting Saturday. "At some point in my career I am desperate to try and be a part of an IPL season and a few more beyond that. Something that I love to experience and love to be a part of."



जो रूट कभी आईपीएल नहीं खेल सके. उन्हें कभी भी किसी टीम ने नहीं खरीदा. जो रूट को हमेशा टेस्ट बल्लेबाज के तौर पर देखा गया. जबकि वनडे में उनका रिकॉर्ड जबरदस्त है. इंग्लैंड के वो सबसे अच्छे बल्लेबाज हैं. साथ ही टी20 क्रिकेट में भी कई खिलाड़ियों से बेहतर हैं. पर एक धब्बा कहें या फिर छवि, वो जो रूट की बन गयी है टेस्ट बल्लेबाज की. इसलिए अनसोल्ड होने के बाद से इस बार जो रूट ने अपना नाम ही नहीं दिया. आईपीएल की नीलामी होने वाली है. और इंग्लैंड का ये बल्लेबाज नीलामी में नहीं है. इस पर जो रूट ने बड़ा बयान दिया है. उन्होंने अपना नाम नहीं देने की वजह बताई है. रूट ने कहा, ‘‘इस साल हमें जितना टेस्ट क्रिकेट खेलना है उसे देखकर मुझे लगा कि यह (आईपीएल में खेलने का) सही समय है. मुझे नहीं लगता कि इससे इंग्लैंड की क्रिकेट को फायदा होगा. यह बेहद मुश्किल फैसला था. उम्मीद है कि अगले साल आईपीएल का हिस्सा बनने या कम से कम नीलामी में शामिल होने का मौका मिलेगा.’’
