Here are five ways to exercise and improve
lung health, as recommended by Dr. Luis Javier
Peña-Hernández, a lung health specialist in Florida. .
1. Homemade masks should
be cleaned frequently to
prevent bacteria buildup.
According to the CDC, masks can be cleaned along with
your laundry or washed by hand with diluted bleach. .
2. Not only does exercise keep your body
in shape, it keeps your lungs in shape too. .
With consistent exercise, lungs can achieve
improved capacity, aka easier breathing.
3. Singing during a hot shower might seem
silly, but it benefits your lungs in two big ways. .
Steam naturally loosens mucus in your
throat and lungs, and singing can help by
naturally clearing that mucus out. .
4. Reduce your exposure to indoor and outdoor
pollutants to take the burden off your lungs.
This includes smoke, vehicle exhaust, dust, fumes from
cleaning products and artificially-scented candles. .
5. Regularly practice breathing exercises such as
pursed lip breathing and diaphragmatic breathing. .
These will help increase your oxygen levels and
strengthen the elasticity of your diaphragm.
