The Hyderabad municipal elections have emerged as a prestige battle for Telangana Chief Minister KCR and his party, the TRS. In the previous GHMC polls in 2016, TRS had managed to win 99 out of 146 seats. Its ally, Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM had managed to win 44 out of the remaining seats.
