These days, lions and lionesses from Raipur remain the center of attraction of tourists at the Sarthana Zoo in Surat, in fact, a pair of lions and lionesses have been brought from the Raipur Safari Park in Chhattisgarh to the Sarthana Zoo in Surat. According to Rajesh Patel, Zoo Superintendent of Surat Municipal Corporation, "The lion is 3 years old and the lioness is stated to be 6 years old."

सूरत के सरथाना चिड़ियाघर में इन दिनों रायपुर से आए शेर औऱ शेरनी पर्यटकों के आकर्शण का केंद्र बने हुए हैं,दरअसल छत्तीसगढ़ में स्थित रायपुर सफारी पार्क से ए‍क शेर और शेरनी की जोड़ी को सूरत के सरथाना चिड़ियाघर लाया गया है। सूरत नगर निगम के चिड़ियाघर अधीक्षक राजेश पटेल के अनुसार, ''शेर की उम्र 3 साल है और शेरनी 6 साल की बतायी गई है।"
