Mahanati titled Nadigaiyar Thilagam in Tamil, is an upcoming Indian Telugu-Tamil biographical film, based on the life of South Indian actress Savitri, directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by C. Ashwini Dutt for Vyjayanthi Movies. It stars Keerthy Suresh, Dulquer Salmaan, Samantha Akkineni, Vijay Devarakonda, Naga Chaitanya, Anushka Shetty, Mohan Babu, and Prakash Raj.

Savitri was an Indian film actress, playback singer, dancer, director and producer. She appeared mainly in Telugu language films but also in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi language films. Widely regarded as one of the finest actresses of Telugu cinema,[citation needed] Savitri's later career, from the late 1960s, tumbled into a spiral of financial problems and alcoholism that necessitated her taking on film roles of little merit.

Keerthy Suresh is an Indian film actress who appears in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films. She is the daughter of Malayalam producer Suresh Kumar and Malayalam actress Menaka. Keerthy made her debut as a child actress in the early 2000s and returned to fill lead roles after completing an education in fashion design. She played her first lead role in the 2013 Malayalam film Geethaanjali and has signed up for films in Tamil and Telugu as well. Her 2nd Malayalam movie was Ring Master directed by Raffi with Dileep in the male lead role
