Babri Masjid Case: Questioning Of 32 Accused, Including LK Advani, Uma Bharti To Begin From June 4

On May 28, special court for Ayodhya case set June 4 as the date for recommencement of questioning in connection with the Babri masjid demolition case. The court, from the said date, would begin recording the statements of all 32 accused involved in the conspiracy & execution of the 16th century mosque's demolition in Ayodhya. Among the 32 accused who will be summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) include veteran BJP leaders LK Advani, Uma Bharti, Murli Manohar Joshi, Vinay Katiyar and Kalyan Singh. Four high-profile accused in the case namely Bal Thackeray, Giriraj Kishore, Ashok Singhal and Vishnu Hari Dalmia have died. On May 8, Supreme Court extended the tenure of Judge SK Yadav, due for retirement till August 31 and directed him to complete the trial and deliver the judgement. Kalyan Singh, the former Uttar Pradesh CM, was heading the state government in 1992 when a frenzied mob allegedly led by Advani & Bharti stormed into Ayodhya and demolished the mosque on December 6.
