More than a ton of dog meat seized at Chennai Egmore railway station :
Few days before, Chennai Police officials seized dog meat which is actually brought from Rajasthan. Foul-smelling from the parcels had made railway police to look into this. Actually officials smelt a stink from parcels kept on platform.So they stopped the men who were placing them onto the platform.As sources said, the men immediately dropped the boxes and escaped from the place.Then,railway police and other officials opened the boxes and suspected that might to be dog meat. However it is not clear, food safety officials suspect that meat might have been brought to be sold as Rajasthani one at a low price.The seized meat samples were sent to Madras Veterinary College for tests. The Food Safety wing also said that “If it is found to be dog meat, appropriate legal action will be initiated in accordance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act".
