Turning Chinese flag upside down criminalised as Beijing applies new rules for Hong Kong and Macau
  • 4 years ago
China’s top legislative body, the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, has passed amendments to strengthen laws related to the national flag. The new protections approved October 17, 2020, will ban flying the national symbol upside down or casual disposal of flags. The rules will also require government agencies in Hong Kong and Macau to fly the flag on working days. The laws will be enacted in Hong Kong in 2021.
